Current Projects

One of our projects is a Victorian era baby cradle. The cradle sits on a separate stand. The cradle can be easily removed from the stand. The cradle features a rocker that allows mom to gently rock the wee one to sleep. This cradle differs from most cradles in that it includes a rather tall pediment and raised panel at the head of the cradle. A smaller pediment is located at the foot of the cradle. We are constructing the cradle of Cherry and using Bird's Eye Maple as a contrasting wood. This project does have a firm deadline - baby is due October 14, 2012!

Victorian Cradle

What's New?

Our newest project is a recreation of a Victorian era baby cradle. The cradle is true to the original except the design has been modified to fit a modern baby cradle mattress size and to meet the Consumer Product safety requirements for baby cradles.

You can follow day-by-day construction by going to our blog -View from the Woodshop. The blog also discusses a wide variety of topics of interest to woodworkers. Check it out.
